Battery Test Specialist/Engineer

GBatteries was founded six years ago to tackle one of the world’s most pressing issues: the transition to a cleaner future through electrification. We are pioneering battery technology which enables ultra-fast charging of Li-ion batteries without compromising battery life — and without changing the battery’s chemistry or manufacturing process. Ultimately, our mission is to accelerate the mass adoption of electric vehicles.

We are working on some of the biggest challenges in energy storage, and are looking for the right people to join us as we develop our technology and continue to scale.

As a Battery Test Specialist/Engineer, you'll be working in our R&D Team analyzing and parsing data, developing our unique charging technology, and helping support the tools that enable us to run mission-critical tests. You'll be part of a tight-knit test team working on a multitude of customer and internal research projects, furthering the development of our technology.

We've not set it in stone, however our preferred salary range for this position is $58,000 - $78,000.

Must haves:

  • College or Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, math, or related field
  • Strong proficiency with Python
  • Industry experience in setting up, maintaining, and monitoring a series of hardware tests according to test plans
  • Experience in collecting, reviewing, and analyzing test data and writing detailed test reports
  • Practical laboratory experience (ideally including the testing of lithium-ion batteries)

Nice to haves:

  • Working knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and basic circuitry
  • Exposure to techniques of battery characterization and battery test systems

  • Become familiar with our in-house testing platform, and our overall battery test methods and strategy
  • Work with the team to implement your first battery test profiles and get an understanding of the projects we work on

  • Learn the ins-and-outs of the important characteristics of the main Li-ion battery cell chemistries
  • Manage a testing project within our technology development stream
  • Learn the full testing process and work with the entire R&D team on maintaining the testing pipeline

  • Manage test runs for many battery test streams and projects
  • Understand the intricacies of Li-ion battery testing, and develop test strategies and plans
  • Be a key part of the test team and provide input on improvements for the test software and charging algorithm
