On August 19, 2014 GBatteries was incorporated. It’s been five years since we made it official and what an exciting five years it has been! We wanted to celebrate our 5th anniversary by showing appreciation to the team and doing something very special. It needed to be fun, but we also wanted to set the stage for the next five years, so we engaged a group of leadership professionals to plan a customized team building retreat to mark the occasion.
Last Thursday afternoon, we headed to Saint-Faustin-Lac-Carré, QC in the Laurentians for a two-day event aimed at building stronger relationships. After a few hours on a coach bus, we arrived at our destination, just east of Mont-Tremblant. Our accommodations encompassed two beautiful properties - a fabulous log chalet and a stunning waterfront cottage, on Lake Rougeau - and everything was included, from foods to drinks.
As part of the scheduled program, we participated in workshops and challenges, aimed at improving team dynamics. We also had the opportunity to hike, swim, and play pool during our downtime. A commemorative dinner, followed by a campfire, were great times to connect and unwind at the retreat.
After the team events, we moved to workshops. Each member of the team completed an individual DISC personality profile assessment and then as a group, we discussed the results. The conversation provided a lot of insight on how we can work more effectively by accounting for different personality styles among the team. Throughout the day, the trainer had lots of great stories, examples, and suggestions about team dynamics.
The food was delicious, the accommodations were comfortable, and the views were spectacular. The highlight of the retreat - A pontoon ride and swim in Lac Tremblant - was spectacular. The weather was perfect, the water was warm, and we even helped rescue a rogue wake board. More than anything though, we met our objectives of building closer relationships and having fun. We are now better suited to deal with different communication style and we know how to balance internal conflict. We are armed with the skills to reach our goals as an organization and we are energized for the next five years!
